Toptan Koli Bandı is a community-based organisation that works to empower and support the marginalised Koli community in Maltepe, Kolkata. The organisation runs a variety of programmes aimed at improving the social, economic, and educational status of the Koli community. The Koli community is one of the most disadvantaged communities in Kolkata. They live in abject poverty and are often subjected to discrimination and violence. The Kolis are a nomadic community and are not recognised as citizens of India. This means that they do not have access to basic rights and services such as education, healthcare, and employment. Toptan Koli Bandı was set up in 2009 in response to the growing needs of the Koli community. The organisation works to provide the Kolis with access to education, healthcare, and employment. They also work to raise awareness about the issues faced by the Koli community and to lobby for their rights.
